Q355C straight seam welded steel pipe is a high-quality steel product widely used in construction, bridges, machinery manufacturing, petrochemical, and other fields. As a low-alloy high-strength structural steel, Q355C has excellent mechanical properties, welding properties, and weather resistance, and has become one of the indispensable materials in modern engineering construction.

Compared with ordinary carbon steel, Q355C significantly improves strength and toughness by adding alloy elements such as manganese and silicon, and has the following characteristics:

4. Atmospheric corrosion resistance: containing copper, chromium, and other elements, the outdoor service life is 20%-30% higher than that of ordinary steel.

The production of straight seam welded steel pipe mainly adopts high-frequency electric resistance welding (ERW) or submerged arc welding (SAW) process, and the core process includes:

1. Plate and strip pretreatment: flatten and trim the Q355C steel coil to ensure that the width tolerance is within ±0.5mm;

2. Forming welding: form into a tube through multiple roll bending, use high-frequency current (100-400kHz) to instantly melt the edge and pressurize welding, and the weld temperature can reach 1400℃;

3. Online heat treatment: medium-frequency induction annealing of the weld to eliminate residual stress and refine the grain;

4. Sizing and testing: use a four-roller micro-tension sizing machine to calibrate the size, and cooperate with ultrasonic flaw detection (UT) and eddy current testing (ET) to ensure quality.

- Building structure: used for super high-rise building columns and large-span venue trusses, replacing traditional Q235B to reduce weight by 15%-20%;

- Bridge engineering: A large number of Φ508mm×12mm welded pipes are used in the auxiliary structures of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the salt spray corrosion resistance has passed the 3000-hour test;

Fifth, the purchase suggestions and quality control of Q355C straight seam welded steel pipes

When purchasing Q355C straight seam welded steel pipes, you need to pay attention to the following:

1. Qualification documents: require manufacturers to provide material lists (including measured values of elements such as C and Mn) and third-party test reports (such as SGS);

2. Process verification: check the weld UT test spectrum, and the fusion line width should be > 0.8mm;

3. On-site acceptance: sample measurement of ovality (≤1%D), wall thickness deviation (±10%t), and flattening test (spacing ≤3t without cracks);

4. Anti-corrosion plan: select hot-dip galvanizing (zinc layer ≥80μm) or epoxy coal tar coating according to the use environment.

It is necessary to be vigilant against some small factories pretending to be C-grade steel with Q355B, or falsely marking the wall thickness (such as marking 8mm as 10mm). It is recommended to use a handheld spectrometer for on-site material analysis.
