In the production process of spiral submerged arc welded steel pipes, if transverse lines occur, how can we identify and eliminate the cause of the problem?

Firstly, residual stress and welding stress after steel pipe molding may be contributing factors.

Secondly, the presence of hydrogen could also be a cause. Possible improved text: Insufficient flux drying, preheating temperature, or no preheating before welding, as well as insufficient interlayer temperature for multi-layer welding, can cause issues in spiral seam submerged arc welded steel pipes.

Metallurgical factors also play a role in the quality of spiral welded steel pipes. During the welding process, impurities with low melting points, such as copper and copper alloys, can enter the weld. Copper is mainly sourced from the surface of the wire used to prevent corrosion. It is important to address these factors to ensure the quality of the welded steel pipes. During the welding process, copper shavings enter the flux through the inner hole of the conductive nozzle and come into contact with the molten pool, resulting in transverse cracks. Additionally, specific metrics and units should be strictly adhered to throughout the process.

The welding process for spiral seam submerged arc welding steel pipes is flawed due to factors such as insufficient preheating temperature, excessive welding line energy, improper heat treatment after welding, and inadequate insulation time. It is important to ensure a proper weld forming factor and consistent use of preheating before welding.

To connect spiral seam submerged arc welded steel pipes, any welding slag can be removed using either argon arc welding or by waiting for the stainless steel welded pipe to cool and then using a hammer. However, these methods may not completely clean the slag. Electric grinding can be used to clean up welding slag, but spatter slag is more difficult to remove. It is important to ensure that all slag is removed to prevent any issues with the pipe's performance.

Defects in spiral welded steel pipes can be removed, but it is important to find a reasonable method to do so.  Cleaning up welding slag can be done using a file, which results in a very clean finish. A simpler and more efficient method involves using a saw blade or a half can to reach into the pipe. With your left hand, hold the pipe, and with your right hand, use the saw blade to pull in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction to remove the weld slag. This method is quick, easy, and effective.
